Yes the tape was a trending topic on Twitter when it came out about a week ago, and Mr. Folarin says he got over 100,000 downloads in less than 90 minutes when it dropped. A nice little ego booster, but Wale says he still feels the same way about selling 28,000 the first week his LP Attention Deficit (2009) dropped.
“It damages your pride, your ego, it makes you think you’re not doing something right,” said in his hometown of Washington, D.C. “I wanted to channel the Wale [that existed] before I ever signed a record deal…”
…”That’s why you hear that vigor and hunger in my voice while I’m rapping. I was trying to go super-crazy in the booth to let them know that the hunger is still there. It’s to my label, the fans, to the doubters. I’m trying to prove myself. A lot of people try to reinvent themselves. I’m trying to define myself. It’s almost like it was a rough draft of my mission statement before, but this is the final draft. If y’all didn’t know who Wale was before, you know now. And the play on Nothing is that a lot people are saying nothin’, but we’re saying somethin’ now.” –Via 2dopeboyzMTV
"I'd play against these guys on one leg. We have to beat these guys. All they do is b*tch and moan about everything. They're little b*tches, all of them. I really hate the Cardinals. Compared to the Cardinals, I love the Cubs. Let me make this clear: I hate the Cardinals"I don't know alot about baseball and I don't pretend to, but this makes the NL Cenral Race so much more interesting. I mean this entire season these two teams haven't trailed each other by more than 3 games. This brawl just means things are getting heated, competitive, and PERSONAL. And these two teams could have a shot to meet up in the NLCS which would make a helluva series. And does anybody think Yadier Molina was wrong for what he did? I don't think so, basically B-Phil did the customary tap on the shin guard with the bat and Molina kicked it and he did it again and they started jawing off. But after what Phillips said he knew what he did would instigate something so Yadier was right for sticking up for his team and also going yard not to long after to seal the game.
It’s not a dis. First of all, I’m not gonna get nothing out of dissing that guy. That’s one. What am I gonna get out of dissing him? I think sometimes people can read into things too deep. They trippin’, man. They crazy out there. Basically, if homie takes that as a dis, he’s insecure, and anybody else out there who does, they are insecure.
That’s for real. That’s for anybody. I got niggas in prison behind that shit. I feel that if you speaking on shit, you gotta at least know who you talking about. That’s like niggas speaking on Cash Money: If he ain’t never been a part of Cash Money, [then] I’mma speak it better if I’m a part of Cash Money. To me, [Black Mafia Family] was real. I know all the members. Who else would say a line like that but me? I’m one of the few people who can say that, so I said it. That’s real life, though. You gotta know the crew, baby. I thought that was the purpose of the game: to get on records and talk your shit, right?Subliminals, for what? What’s understood ain’t gotta be said. I didn’t think people would take the record like that. I did it like I would have any Shawty Lo record, any Rocko record, whoever. I got on [Ross' beat] and did it like how I do it, the best way I know how. I don’t know if because the BMF situation is for real for me that everybody is like, ‘Ooh. Oh, shit.’ Twitter is a muthafucka, by the way.
"We’ll have to catch up with Jeezy and Ross soon to find out what’s really going down, but eyebrows were first raised in late June when Jeezy released the track “B.M.F. (The Real Blowin’ Money Fast).”
“I haven’t had a chance to talk to the homie,” Ross said. “I really don’t know what the thought process was behind it. My record was called ‘Blowin’ Money Fast.’ It confused me that if it was called ‘The Real B.M.F.,’ I would have called it ‘The Black Mafia Family.’ … You know, you may have to ask him. Other than that, we still reppin’, we still riding, and [my] record is getting love everywhere. So it’s all good.”
"As part of the lead up to the World Basketball Festival, Nike Sportswear created a mini documentary of Brooklyn-raised rapper, songwriter and producer Theophilus London giving a tour of the neighborhood he grew up in. This video is part of “1 Love,” a Nike Sportswear experience created to celebrate the AF1 and hoops culture throughout NYC’s 5 borough’s. The “1 Love” program consists of a series of borough-specific mini documentaries, the release of five exclusive Borough Edition AF1′s and a Borough vs. Borough basketball tournament which took place on 7/31 and culminated in a block party at Nike Sportswear’s NYC boutique, Nike Sportswear @ 21 Mercer.
For the short film series Nike Sportswear choose five representative personalities that embody the heart and soul of each of the boroughs to provide an insider’s guide on what makes their home unique. Theophilus kicks it off."Nice Vid gotta love it
"Did I just catch you wanting to be shit[Slap]" - MisterThis is the previous episode, I forgot to post it. And Barack had me rolling lmao
"This 3 Stacks track was recently unearthed on an upcoming tape, Limelight Exclusives, which is set to drop Thursday."
"U.S. sprinter Tyson Gay handed world record holder Usain Bolt of Jamaica his first 100-meter loss in more than two years at the IAAF Diamond League DN Galan meet Friday in Stockholm.
Gay held a narrow lead over Bolt halfway through the race before pulling away to set a meet record (which earned him an automatic prize of a $10,000 diamond) of 9.84 seconds and defeat Bolt for the first time.
'Now I’ve got to keep it up,' Gay said.
Bolt took second place with a time of 9.97 seconds, his second slowest time ever in a final, according to the Diamond League website.
His last loss in the event was also in Stockholm, in July 2008. That race was won by fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell, who did not race Friday because of a back injury.
'Just one of those days,' Bolt said. 'I told you I’m not unbeatable. I did not train as hard as in past years, so I can’t complain. And it was Tyson Gay. My congratulations to him. I’m not in my best shape and he is in great shape.... I simply wasn’t ready enough for that clash.'"
-- Chuck SchilkenI gotta say congrats to Tyson Gay because I like many thought Usain was unbeatable, but I always knew if anybody was gonna do that it would be Tyson. But I think Usain starting believing the hype and slacked off. The best thing is that now we have some sort of rivalry in Track which will make things interesting
